What Are Opportunity Zones?
Opportunity Zones are a significant wealth building tool granted by the Federal Government in the 2017 Job Creation and Tax Act. The Act was passed on December 22 ,2017 – all 50 states are participating with the Governors submitting a list of qualified census tracts which were accepted by the United States Treasury in March of 2018. The Opportunity Zones are now fixed until the Federal Government changes them. Areas certified as Opportunity Zones retain their designation for ten years. More than 8,700 Qualified Census Tracts are now certified Opportunity Zones.
